NEW CATHOLIC CHURCH.
SEVERAL SPECIAL FEATURES. No church in Christchurch will have a more beautiful setting than the new Catholic Church in Puriri street, Riccarton, now being erected by Mr 6. L. Bull. The background will consist of a beautiful vista of Deans Bush. The laying of the foundation stone will take place in October.
The church will be built of rubble with redstone bands. Purple slates with freen bands will be used in the roof, be interior will be lined with Oamaru stone above a cement dado, which will be one of the several special features. Oregon pine will be utilised in the roof trusses, and the flooring will be o( selected timber. Expert attention has been given to acoustics. A preparation of felt will be placed under the Barking, and covered with canvas, which will be painted and stencilled. Steel windows, having leadligbts, with a small design burnt in, and louvre vents projecting from the roof, will add to the beauty of the structure. Mr H. F. Willis is the architect.
