STEEL AND FRAME BUILDINGS.

Tfie City Commissioners of Sydney have approved new by-laws amending the conditions relating to the construction of steel and reinforced concrete frame buildings. Partial steel frame construction will not be permitted in future. When any part of a building is to be of steel frame construction the whole must be built in that fashion. Neither will partial reinforced concrete construction be permitted. Buildings of both steel and reinforced concrete must be constructed throughout of incombustible materials. A wooden covering may be placed over incombustible floors and wood joinery work used with the approval of the city building surveyor, but not otherwise.
