Bowling. M the annual meeting of the Heathcote Valley- Bowling Club Mr C. Poulton presided. The annual report showed that the year had been successful in every way. The bal-ance-sheet revealed a snlall credit balance. Votes oi thanks were passed to Messrs .T, "organ. J. Perkins, and 11. Jarmau for Work done during the year. It -was decided to hold the opening day on October sth. Trophies were presented to last_ season's competition winners as follows: tingles: J. Morgan. Doubles: 1". Elson and W. Deare. Rinks: T„. M. O'Snllivan, J. Perkins, W. Deare, and A. T. Robertson. Silver Jack: C. Poulton. The election of officers resulted as lollows: —President. Mr C. Poulton; vice-president, Mr J. Williams; secretary, Mr 1,. M. O'Sullivan; treasurer, Mr C. T»>y; committee, Messrs C. Flavell. IX Dickey, A. p. Hamilton, and A. Poulton: match committee, Messrs A. D. Hamilton and 31. •larman; green superintendents. Messrs H. A. Barnard and J. Morgan; match selector. Mr C. Flavell; club frames selectors. Messrs "Vviiliams, P. G. Fox. aad J. Morgan: delegate to Centre, Mr F. G. Fox. Cricket. At the annual meeting oi the- Heathcote Valley Cricket Club Mr P. S. Brooks presided. The balance-sheet that the club was in 3 good financial position. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officers for the capable manner in which they had carried out their duties during the year. . It was decided to open the on October 12th, a match to be played between married and single members, to be followed by a social evening. Rogprs, J. Newton, J. Connolly, M. Collier, H. Clarke, C. Deavoll, and. S. Perkins. Dance. The fortnightly dance under the auspices Of the Heathcote Club was held on Saturday. A lucky spofe waltz was won by Mr J. Wyman and Miss N. Burbery. Music was supplied by M*s Loney, and-Mr N. Rogers played an extra* Mr S. Perkins .was M.C.. Orchards Da.maged. The severe frost on Saturday morning caused considerable damage to orchards and gardens in the district. The losses to some of the big growers in tomatoes are reported to be very heavy, while early potatoes were severely damaged. Several fnut growers in the Horatane Valley have lost practically thew hole of their apricot crop.
