Charles Woodward, who was sentenced to two yemrs' detention on Roto Roa Island on Saturdav, appeared again yesterday, as owing to health reasons, such detention could not bo carried out. Tha ease was eventually adjourned in order that the Returned Soldiers' Association might b« consulted. THREATENING BSHAVIOTJR. For behaving in a threatening manner at New Brighton, Lionel Erie Ward was lined 20s and costs. REMANDED. Randall Jatnes Ferguson, on a charge of the theft of a cnp and saucer and one vase, of a total value of £l, was remanded to September 26th. . Detective-Sergeant Young said that the accused escaped from the Timaru Home on September Bth. and had been incurring debts by fraud «inc« then. There were a number of charges pending against him.
