CROQUET.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. The sixteenth annual meeting of the Canterbury Croquet Association was held on Friday, Mr A. G. F. Ross presiding. The following clubs were represented: Akaroa, Harrington, Cashmere, Edgeware, Kaiapoi, New Brighton, Opawa, Redcliffs, St. Albans. The annual report stated that keen interest had been taken in all the competitions conducted by the Association. The following officers were elected; — President, Mr A. G. F. Ross; vice-presidents, Mesdames Johnson, Bean Land, Moore, and Messrs Rawnsley, Lill, and Tomlinson; refer ee, Mr T. F. Chambers; handicapper, Mr A. G. F. Ross; assistant handicapper, Mr W. M. Tyers; auditor, Mr N. W. Robbins; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. McCullough; tournament manager, Mr E. J. Ross; assistant tournament manager, Mrs Beanlana; competitions and tournament committee, Mesdames Beanland, Maddren, Leithead, Turner, and Messrs Grant, E. J. Ross, Rawnsley, and Tyers. It was decided that the same competitions be carried on this year as last, the tournament to be held as usual, play starting on Boxinz Day. . At the last tournament the cups presentea to the winners in the open championship and the ladies' championship became their pronerty. as they had won them three times in succession. Mr A. G. F. Ross, the ner of the open chamiponship, intimated tnat he wai going to hand over the cup to the Association, on the condition that m iuture • the winner should hold it for one year. A motion of sympathy was passed witn Mr E. J. Ross in his recent bereavement.
