BOWKER MEMORIAL.
QUESTION OF WATER SUPPLY. Reference to the Bowker Memorial fountain, to be erected in Victoria square, was made at last night's meeting of the City Council. The Reserves Committee reported:— Acting upon instructions received from the committee, the City Engineer lias been investigating the alternative merits of deep wells, shallow wells, and high pressure supply for use in connexion with the proposed fountain Various methods of providing a suitable supply of water and lightmg effects have been investigated and the City Engineer's report upon these matters has Been referred €o a sub-commit-tee which will confer with Mr Bowker, jun. The report was adopted*
