STAR OF THE EAST.

ORDER DISSOLVED. KRISHNAMURTI'S DECISION. (EXITED FBJE9B ASSOCIATION —BT BLKCTBIC TBUSOBAPH —COPYBIQHT.) LONDON, August 5. Mrs Annie Besant, whose path with Krishnamurti, the New Messiah, has not been without oitfalls, has bowed to a dramatic announcement made by the young prophet at tiio National Congress in Holland that the Order of the Star of the East is henceforth dissolved. Krishnamurti said: —"Religious philosophers need no organisation, yet the Order's members are unwilling to face the truth. What, then, is the nse of the organisation?" Mi's Besant announces:—"Considering Krishnamurti's viewpoint, the dissolution of the Order appears a logical step. Various trusts will carry out the publication of Krishnamurti's writings, and will bring their message to the world. That message is only partially understood at present, but contains profound truths and will be more fully appreciated as humanity evolves. My fundamental belief in Krishnamurti as a world teacher makes me more inclined to observe and study than pronounce an opinion on one whom 1 consider far my superior." Mr George Lansbury, Labour member of the House of Commons for Bow and Bromley, after a visit to the camp of the Star of the East, stated: "Krishnamurti's declaration is just what was expected. He represents the new thought of our time, and refuses to organise either mental or moral crutches for mankind. I rejoice that Krishnamurti has broken the bondage of a mere organisation and is reiving solely on the truth of his teachings to appeal to mankind." — Australian Press Association. [Krishnamurti was born in 1896 at Madras and adopted by Mrs Besant, President of the Theosophieal Society, in 1910. He studied at Oxford and the Sorbonne and presided at the congress of the Order of the Star of the East in Paris. In 1926 he was proclaimed the second Messiah. Hie recentlv visited the United States with Mrs Besant.]
