ST. ALBANS AFFAIRS.
BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION. Mr F. Prouting presided over a good attendance of members at last evening'* meeting of the St. Albana Burgesses' Association. With reference to the Association's request that the City Council take over and improve Keagh's lane, the Town Clerk notified that the Works Committee found that as the lane was undedicated, the Council was legally debarred from spending money on it. The ohairman remarked that nothing oould be done except by Aot of Parliament. It was decided to forward a copy of the letter to the Victory School Board ot Directors It was resolved to draw ths attention of the Department of Health to the dilapidated state of several houses in Trafalgar street, and to ask that these be condemned. It was decided to ask the City Council to alter the colour of the painting of the railing around St. Albans Park, and that an asphalt path be laid down on the south Side of the Dark in Edward avenue, which was at present in a very bad state. Mr Prouting pointed out that a nnmber of the street oame-plates were not decipherable. It was decided to ask the City Council to have them repainted. Accounts amounting to 16 Ti Id ware passed for payment. Three new members were elected, and the resignation of one member acoepted. It was decided to send the following f mit to the United Burgesses Association: "That all poles at street intersections bs painted with a white band 3ft up.' The following matters discussed at an executive meeting on july 23rd were endorsed: ,a) That the attention of the City Council be drawn to the tact that in November last it had stated that consideration would be given to moving the men's conveniences on tiie west side of St. Aibans Park nearer the trees, when th« estimates tor "ie financial year were being drawn up; (b) that the attention of the Council be again drawn to the deplorable state of the entrance to the Council reserve off Trafalgar street, and suggesting that a 6ft iron fence ic) that the City Council be again asked to round off the corner, and set back the pole, at the corner of Ed?eware road and Caledonian road, where a strip of land had been given by the owner to wid eD . **}* .""i' !d> that the Council be asked to indude the widening of Trafalgar street in this years estimates. ... •_ _j * The secretary notified that e _ warded these resolutions on to the Council and had received the followjng (a) That the question of C °°" veniences at St. Albans Park had bee:n referred to the Finance Committee; (b) that the widening of Edgeware to the Town P !^ n \ n^^°^T'niM The chairman reported that * * * j <X Trafalgar street was bsing c*rr*A m*.
