SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
MEETING AT RANGIORA. A meeting of the committee of the Dog Trials, to be held on the Rangiora Show Grounds on Friday in aid of the Earthquake Belief Fund, was held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening, the Mayor (Mr C. F. Ayers) presiding. The secretary reported that 60 en* tries had been received for the dog trials, and 34 for the whippet races. Twenty-three trophies had been also received. Mrs Little wrote regretting that she was unable to accept the invitation to judge the trials on account of the illness of Mr Little. She enclosed a guinea for the prize fund. The appointment. of a judge waa deferred in the meantime. Mr 6. Garrett wrote accepting the invitation to judge the dogs in the dog show. Mr W. Parsons was appointed starter of the whippet, races. The tender of Mr Reynolds to provide luncheon and afternoon tea was accepted. The Mayor, secretary, and Mr C. I. Jennings were appointed to interview the business people requesting their support, by allowing their emp'oyees, who wished to see the trials, time off to do so. It was decided to hold a working bee on the Show Grounds to-morrow.
