UNEMPLOYMENT.
Yesterday's registrations were 33, and included 22 married men. Three men were placed privately. About seventy ex-service men's names are on the B.S.A. unemployment register, though one half of these are engaged temporarily on relief works provided by local bodies. The Association's Benevolent Committee is assisting an average of 12 to 15 families weekly with supplies of food and fuel. The Christchurcb Returned Soldiers' Association lias been granted permission to give a eoneert in the Crvstal Palace Theatre on Sunday, August 11th, the proceeds to be devoted to the Association's unemployment fund. AUCKLAND TO RAISE LOAN. 'PRBSB ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM. 1 AUCKLAND, August 3. The City Council, with one dissentient, has decided to apply to the Government Loans Board for £25 200 iu order to provide work to relieve unemployment.
