SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mrs G. E. Gabites (Wai-iti road), who has been visiting Dunedin, has returned home. Mrs Moreland (Australia) is staying with her daughter, Mrs D. W. Beese, Wai-iti road. Mr and Mrs Ramsay are guests at "Kelso," Sarah street. Miss E. Winslon (Boxburgh), who has been the guest of Mrs J. E. P. Cameron, Glen-iti, has returned home. Major and Mrs R. S. H. W'alpole ("Manington," Geraldine) are the guests of their Excellencies Sir Charles and the Lady Alice Fergusson at Government House. Mr and Mrs C. L. Last evening in Dixieland Amalgamated Buyers, Limited, held their first annual ■ocial and dance. The function proved an outstanding success, and wag thoroughly enjoyed by the large gathering of shareholders of the company, representatives of manufacturers with whom the company is doing business, and also many friends. A feature of the evening was a ballet dance by pupils of Misb Ivy Fowler, while Mr Eric Gray and Mr H. McD. Vincent also contributed numbers. The hostesses were Mesdames C. Broughton, E. R. McDonald, E. C. B. Bettle, L. H. Cooper, and E. C. Bathurst. The arrangements for the evening weie in the capable hands of a committee comprising Messrs J. L Collins, C, Broughton, L. H. Cooper, Eric Gray, Eric S. Johnston, E. B. McDonald, T. S. Harris and T. McD. Vincent. Those present included Mr and Mrs C. Broughton, Mr and Mrs E. C.
