The Royal Commission whieh is enquiring into the coal industry is seeking a means of reopening the idle pits by private interviews. It is thna hoped to overcome the paralysing deadlock while the Commission carries out its investigation into the owners' profits. Mr Justice Davidson, chairman of the Commission, has asked the parties to the coal dispute to meet on Friday to see whether there is any hope of the mines reopening by means of a compromise before the Commission proceeds further with the investigation.—Australian Press Association.
