CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. (USITEO PBES3 4SBOCIATIOS—3T BLBCTiIO TXUtGRiPB —COPTaIUUT.) (Received July 10th, 11.30 p.m.) ' LONDON, July 10. The temporary failure of her steering geer caused the steamer Hobson Bay, which was starting for Australia, to ram the jetty at Thames Haven, crushing a pontoon like matehwood and sinking two bargee. The damage is estimated at £50,000. Six men who were working on the barges saw the danger and reached the shore before the collision. The Hobson Bay was not damaged. Her gear was quickly repaired and she resumed her voyage.—Australian Press Association.
