ATTEMPT TO KILL PRIME

A body of cavalry is scouring the Kritehim'district for a band of assassins who tried to kill M. Andre Liaptcheff, the Prime Minister, when he was returning from opening a new road. The assassins shot at the wrong car, and killed a constable who was escorting the Minister for Works, M. Slaveieo Vassileff. The constable flung himself in front of the Minister when shots rang out, and was mortally wounded.—Australian Press Association.
