The Bishop of Pretoria's denunciation of racial fear being introduced into the Nationalists' electioneering has been followed by General Hertzog's refusal to attend the thanksgiving service for the King's recovery at the English Cathedral at Pretoria, whier he had previously intended to do. He intimated that he will attend the Dutch service.
The secretary of the Prime Minister, when interviewed, said that if the Church decided to participate in politics it must expect some repercussion.
The "Rand Mail" states: "General Hertzog is committing a blunder which it will be hara to forgive and forget." The "Mail" recalls the bitter outbursts of his clerical supporters. —Australian Press Association.
