ACCIDENT VICTIM'S DEATH.
RESULT OF SOCKBURN SMASH. After having rnado satisfactory progress from the injuries he received in the accideut at Sockburn on the night of Sunday, June 30th, when five people were injured in a collision between a motor-cycle and eide-car outfit and a gig, Benjamin Henry Bright, of Washbourne road, Sockburn, suffered a relapse early yesterday morning, and died in die Christchurch Hospital shortly before five o'clock. Mr Bright was 52 years of age. The accident occurred on the Main South road, between Sockburn and Hornby, near the chemical works, when Mr and Mrs James G. Potter, of Washbourne road, Sockburn. and their two boys, aged seven and nine years respectively, together with Mr Bright, were returning from a visit to a relative at Hornby. The machine struck a gig driven by J. Chambers, and all <ive were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. It is reported that the other victims of the smash are improving slowly. Mr Potter was discharged from Hospital a few days agrr>.
An inquest was opened by the Coroner, Mr E. C. Levvey, yesterday, when formal evidence of identification was given by James Potter. The enquiry was then adjourned sine die.
