WOOLSTON LIBRARY.

♦ ANNUAL MEETING. Mr W. Cooper presided over a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Woolston Library. The annual report stated that the committee commenced the year with a credit balance of £7l 9s Bd. The work of the year had been most satisfactory, and the library had shown a steady advance. As there had been a marked increase in building in Woolston, and new people were coming into the district, there was every probability of a continual increase in membership. The committee desired to place on record its appreciation of the excellent work of the librarian, Mr C. M. Lilburne, and to convey its sympathy to him in his recent illness. The financial statement showed expenditure totalling £l6B 17s Bd, tha principal items being salary £74 13s, purchase of books £54 15s lid, and purchase of periodicals £2O 8s 4d. The receipts totalled £247 16s 7d, the chief items being subscriptions £ll9 4s sd. The credit balance wa3 £7B 18s lid. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A member remarked that it was time the City Council connected the library buildings with the sewer. It was decided that Mr J. B. Richardson interview the Town Clerk in the matter.
