YOUNG MAN SHOT.

TRAGEDY IN BUSH. (rxssa association tzxmkax.) TAUMARUNUI, May 20. A young farm labourer, Charles Godfrey Moseley, tu accidentally shot by Archibald Campbell at Owhango on Sunday morning.

At the inquest the District Coroner, Mr A. S. Laird, returned a verdict that deceased was accidentally 6hot by Archibald Bannerman Campbell. In evidence, Campbell said that with his brother Arthur and his sons, Roy and lan, he went shooting wild cattle in the bush at Owhango. On the way they passed Moseley, Clement Hill, and Ueorge Later, he heard a rustle and saw what he thought was a beast, and fired. Someone in the other party called: "Good God, you've nhot Charlie!" He fired in the direction they were travelling. Visibility w.s baa nnd the undergrowth dense. The shooting was accidental, as he had no idea the other party had gone out in front. Clement Hill said his party decided to get in front quickly, because they thought the Campbells might frighten the pigs they vrere after The Coroner said that where several parties were shooting in the bush they should make definite arrangement* as to positions. It apoeared tbnt Moseley in his haste to forestall the other party had been in a measure contributory to his own death.
