U.S. DECISION TO EXTEND PAYMENTS. CLAIMS AGAINST GERMANY MODIFIED. (iraiTXD FKESS A.SSOCIATXOX—BT EXJtCTUIC TIUSOBAJ-a—COPTWOHT.) (Received May 30th, 10.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Maj 20. President Hoover, Mr Andrew Mellon (Secretary of the Treasury), Mr H. L. Stimson (Secretary of State), and the majority and minority leader* of Congress, and others, met to-day and agreed to modify the American Government's claims against Germany. Thev will scale down the annuities slightly and extend payments over a lower period without any reduction in the total. The terms of the new agreement, which must be submitted to Congress, will be eent to Mr Norman Armour, Charge d'Affaire* in Paris, for submission to the American members of the Reparations Committee of Experts, so that the American position may be presented at the final sessions.—Australian Press Association.
