EXPLOSION WRECKS SHOP.

OUTRAGE AT MACKAY. (TTKITZD PRESS ASSOCIATION —BT EUSCTBIC TELEGRAPH —COPTRIGHT.) BRISBANE, May 20. A terrific explosion at Mackay wrecked a two-storey city shop. Bricks were piled in heaps along with beams. The walls were splintered and left in dangerous positions, and a hole four feet in diameter was torn in the top floor. The roof toppled in, but the shop was not occupied at the time, and no one was injured. Suspicion that the explosion was caused by a charge of gelignite was confirmed when the police discovered 30 plugs and a fuse amongst the ruins. —Australian Press Association.
