BUS LICENSES.

NORTH BEACH SERVICE. NO OBJECTION FROM TRAMWAY BOARD. Notice was received by the Tramway Board yesterday after hood that the City Council, sitting as the motor omnibus licensing authority, would deal with the annual applications on slay 27th, commencing at 8 p.m. Mr J. A. Flesher (chairman): Shall we apply for the renewal of the North Beach license, in view of our decision in regard to trolley cars? Mr H. Pearce said the matter of the Board's l>uses required very serious consideration. Some of them were not paying for axle grease. Mr Flesher said he was considering whether Mr Bussell's application for the renewal of his license for the North Beach bus should be opposed. A member: We don't want any more losses. The chairman : Some of the services are a gold mine. Mrs E. R. MeCombs moved that the Board oppose the renewal of Mr Bussell's license. Mr Flesher said he was in favour of this action. "Perhaps we should let the Citv Council decide the whole question." he said. Mr W. Havward: On what grounds should we oppose it? Mr Flesher- On the grounds that we should control the whole of the transport in our district. He seconded the motion

Mr Hayward said if the Board's objection was upheld, it would have to buy Mr Btissell's plant. Mr E. H. Andrews: It's a pity ire did it with v>me of the others. Mr W Williamson intimated that he wa* acainst the motion. The motion was l«st. the chairman, Mrs Mr-Combs, and Mr W. J. Walter voting in favour of it.
