« . ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (FSXBS A.SBOCXATIOS TILEOSAM.) WELLINGTON, May 17. The annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute concluded to-day. " The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as foltows:—President, Mr J. G. Poison, M.A. (Christchurch); vice-presidents, Messrs A. J. C. Hall (Auckland), 11. F. Penlington (Christcburch); treasurer, Mr C. Robertson (Wellington); executive, Miss E. M. C. Edmed (Palliatua), Messrs W. F. Abel (Otago), F. A. Garry (Auckland), J. P. Hawke (Otago), A. Murdoch (Auckland). The following executive was elected for the Wellington Metropolitan area: Miss M. E. Magill, Messrs J. H. M. Findlayson, P. M. Jackson, R. N. Wilson, and "E. Kidson. CRIMINAL SESSIONS. ♦ WELLINGTON. (PAESS ASSOCIATION TBXBGRA.M.) WELLINGTON, May 17. The hearing of charges against the two Ryans, Gordon, and Capon, was concluded in the Supreme Court to-day. After two hours' retirement, the jury found the Ryans guilty o£ receiving goods knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. Gordon was found guilty of arson, and Capon not guilty. His Honour said that he agreed entirely with the verdict. The prisoners were remanded till Monday for sentence. The jury found a verdict of guilty against George William Lewis Presling, a bootmaker, charged with breaking and entering, and the theft of goods valued at £4, 16s 7d from a warehouse in Farish street. Prisoner was remanded for sentence.
