PRISON FOR STRIKING A GIRL.

(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) EVV-ERCARGILL, May 17. In the Magistrate's Court a young man, Andrew James Lee, for striking a girl in the face and using obscene language, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on each charge. The assault occurred on the first night of the May Fair, when the girl was returning from a dance. The Magistrate said that carnival time was not to be used as an excuse for such behaviour. The case was a bad one and called for imprisonment.
