OAMARU J.C.

PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY. The Oamnru Jockey Club's Winter Meeting will be held to-day. The course is likely to be in good order as a result of recent rain, and with strong fields engaged in each event some interesting racing should be witnessed The first race is timed to start at 12 o'clock. The programme is as follows: PACIFIC HUUDLES HANDICAP, ot HO sovs. lim. Kaikahu ..11 3 Te Maui .. 9 0 Troilui ..11 2 Harrington .. 9 0 Gold Town .. 9 7 Gaybird .. 9 0 Antrim Boy 9 3 Trod us seems to be the most likely candidate in the above, and his encouraging showing in a flat race at Amberlev last Saturday entitles him to strong support. KaiKahu would beneiit by his effort in the hurdle race at the same Meeting, and promises to offer most opposition to Troilus, while of the remainder Te Maui will be in demand. TRIAL STAKES, of 110 sovs. sf. Meitui . . 8 10 Glenlusk . . 8 10 Ulenrowan .. 8 10 Gay Fashion 810 Kilboa .. 8 10 Kate Kelly .. 8 10 Best Policy .. 8 10 Valuator .. 8 10 Remindful .. 8 10 Joybridgs .. 8 10 Clarenson .. 810 Fairness .. 810 Peterette .. 8 10 Khondda . . 8 10 Larkaway . . 810 Miss Nightraid 711 Kiloff . . 8 10 Sapient . . 7 11 The majority of the maidens carded for this event have little form to recommend them. Kate Kelly, Valuator, and Sapient will not be produced, and Hiccarton stables will be represented by Miss Nightraid, who is endowed with a reasonable amount of speed. Meitui ran a fair race at Waimate a few weeks back, while Kilboa has shown promise in his track work. The trio named may be most prominent at the finish. WINTER CUP HANDICAP, of 225 sovs. 13m. Beau Geste . . 9 5 Buoyant .. 7 10 Royal Saxon . . 8 9 Evening . . 7 7 Wingatui . . 8 9 Money Mine 7 1 Amor .. 8 6 Tardy .. 7 0 Gay Sonnet . . 8 1 Martia . . 7 0 Countersign . . 8 1 Beau Geste and Countersign will be absentees from the above field. Buoyant has been rehandicapped 71b for his Amberley victory, but this should not stop him from again being a difficult proposition. He has made gradual improvement during the past couple of months, and is very well at present. Gay Sonnet did not work too well on Thursday, and unless the track becomes heavy in the meantime her chances do not look hopeful. Evening ran a good race at Amberley under difficulties, and it would not be surprising to see a big improvement in her to-day. Amor was disappointing at Amberley, but the Oamaru track may suit him better. Eoyal Saxon and Wingatui will probably carry the confidence of ' southerners, while Tardy appeals amongst the light-weights. On recent form, however, Buoyant, Amor, and Evening comprise a likely trio to contest the final issue.

OAMARU TROT HANDICAP (in harness), of 130 sots. 3.39 class. ljm. Master Jack . . scr Wild Bingen .. set Myra Locanda .. scr Toorhead . . ser Fando Pointer .. scr Rey Child .. scr Knowledge .. scr Bingen Maid .. 12 Bessie Huon .. scr Princess Pointer 12 Devon Child .. scr Le Thorpe . . 12 Betty Bingen .. scr Monopole .. 12 Idol Boy .. scr Ngingo Ngingo 12 Onoto .. scr Cuddles .. 12 Lady Zephyr .. scr Red Shiner .. 12 Harvrtt Girl scr Lough Neagh .. 12 Grand Canyon scr Free Pointer .. 24 Francis de Oro scr Wild Nita .. 36 Last Pointer .. scr Streak . . 60 Golden Vale .. scr Tennessee's Child 96 Ngingo Ngingo is a doubtful starter in the above event, and in his absence Monopole, Last Pointer, and the two-year-old Grand Canyon may prove the best. HACK HANDICAP, of 110 sots. fif. Solgele .. 8 9 Broadfleld .. 7 5 feea Raid .. 8 4 Night Effort ..75 Killorna .. 7 13 Karitane .. 7 9 Filosol .. 7 18 Crossbow .. 7 1 Amourette .. 7 8 Remindful .. 7 0 Little Queen 7 7 Poetess .. 7 0 Miss Marco .. 7 7 Best Policy .. 7 0 Nanette .. 7 6 Joybridge .. 7 0 Noteworthy .. 8 9 Investors have plenty of material to test their judgment in this race. Solgele will probably be favourite, while there will also be solid support for Sea Raid and Amourette. Karitane's name h-v omitted from the telegraphed ao ccpunices, and, as so often happens in such cases, she may spring a surprise. FLYING HANDICAP, of 160 SOTS. 6f. Meadow Lark 9 4 Royal Tractor 7 3 Buoyant . . 8 6 Winsome Boy 7 3 Arrowmir .. 7 11 First Raid 7 0 Tripaway .. 7 9 Paper Boy . . 7 0 Caterpillar .. 7 8 Sea Raid . . 7 0 Waving Corn 7 8 Unlikely starters in the above are Buoyant, Caterpillar, and Paper Boy. Meadow Lark has a big impost to carry, and will find it troublesome to concede so much weight to other smart sprinters engaged. Arrowmir will be favoured by a distance which suits him, and he and .Waving Corn will probably dispute favouritism. Winsome Boy j will be produced, and on Amlierley form cannot be overlooked. Speculation will be well divided, and Waving Com, Arrowmir, and Winsofne Boy will prob- , ably carry most money.

WAIKATJRA TROT HANDICAP (in saddle), 125 govs. 3.2| claBS. lim. FARKWELL HANDICAP, of 120 sovs. 7f. Royal Saxon 9 2 Wayward .. 7 7 Tripaway . . 8 1 Paper Boy .. 7 6 Evening .. S 1 Noteworthy .. 7 4 Arrowmlr .. 8 1 Boy .. 7 1 i Money Mine 8 1 rnHnthlc .. 7 0 Martin 7 13 Jailorha .. 7 0 Winsome Boy 7 9 King Sol ..70 Malmsey .. 7 8 Miss Marco . . 7 0 Membo .. 7 8 Crossbow .. 7 0 Waterlow . . 7 7 The field for the concluding event will most likely be considerably reduced, tw many of the acceptors will race earlier in the programme. Winsome Boy will probably be paraded again, and will keep the opposition busy. Paper Boy will improve on his Amberley race, while if Tripaway is reserved she will take a prominent part in the final tussle. Waterlow is in winning form, and must be respected. Winsome Boy, Paper Boy, and Waterlow may be on hand at the finish.
