FOOTBALL.
RUGBY. 'VARSITY V. TECHNICAL. The Oval game at Lancaster Park to-day should provide interesting football. Several changes have been made in the 'Varsity team, which is practically the same side that did so well against Old Boys some weeks ago. A new full-back in W. J. Scott will be tried. Scott has played for South Canterbury and has a good reputation. N. Alexander goes to centre, displacing Kerr, who takes the first five-eighth position. N. Williams, a strong-running three-quarter, goes in in place of Hair. A new forward in Wells, of Otago University, will lock the scrum, while A. R. Smith will be wing-forward. On the south ground Albion will play Sydenham. In the old days these teams were great rivals, and it won't be long before they will meet again on an equal footing. Albion have a useful forward team this year and will be heard of later on. On the west ground Merivale meet West Old Boys. The former have made several alterations, which should materially strengthen the side. At the Show Grounds, High School Old Boys meet Linwood. The Whites are bent on winning the premiership this year, and play v«ry attractive football. On the No. 2 ground 'Varsity meet North Canterbury in the Junidr 2 grade.
