A SPECTACULAR BLAZE. SUSPICIOUS ORIGIN. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAIL.) NAPIER, Not ember 30. A spectacular blaze of rather suspicious origin almost completely gutted a large two-storeyed house of 14 rooms in Heretaunga street West, Hastings, at an early hour this morning. The ouilding was recently occupied as a bourding house, but was empty at the time of the fire. It was owned by Dr. 13. S. Storey. Built over 40 years ago and first used as a_ girls' seminary, later becoming a private hospital, and .übsequently a ooarding-bouse, the milding was quite a landmark in Hast-* ngs. The brigade was quickly on the cene after the alarm was given, but the lames evidently had a strong hold ■jefore attracting the attention of the constable on duty, and the firemen could do little more than save two or three rooms. Flames were leaping out and upwards to a great height and, surging through the house from one side to the other with a noise like tho rush of wind. It is believed the fire had three distinct points of origin one at the back and two in front or the house. The insurances are not ascertainable. Don't be a loser. Get adequate insurance.
