PRISON CHAPLAIN.

♦ RESIGNATION OF REV. T. PATERSON. The resignation of the Rer. T. Paterson from the position of chaplain to the Paparua Gaol was acoepted at

yesterday's meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery. Mr Paterson explained that he had to travel over lo miles to the gaol, and it made things very inconvenient for him, especially in the matter of adjusting his visits to the gaol with his own services Kirwee. ~' Mr Paterson was thanked for diligence and care in carrying on tm work, and Dr. Erwin, the ' Rule, and the clerk were delegated go into the matter of appointing a successor and to report at the next meeting of the Presbytery.
