.The following is Section 62 of the Licensing Act of 1918: . ' '•'62. (1) At all. times while . no licenses exist in New' Zealand- by virtue of the determination in favour of National. Prohibition without compensation it shall be unlawful for any person 'to have in his possession for the purposes of sale, or to import.into New Zealand, or. to manufacture or sell, intoxicating liquor of any description. . "(2) Nothing in this section shall extend or apply to the -importation, manufacture, or sale, in accordance with regulations made by the Gover-nor-General-in-Council in that behalf, of intoxicating'. liquor for medicinal, scientific, sacramental, or industrial purposes exclusively. , "(4) Any person who m breach or this section imports into New Zealand, manufactures, sells, or has in his possession for the purpose,of sale, any intoxicating liquor,, or. who. attempts to commit any such offence, or who aids, abets, or procures the commission of any such offence, shall be liable 6n summary conviction to a. fine not exceeding one hundred pounds in the case of a first offence and to imprisonment for any term- not exceeding three months in the case of a second or any subsequent.offence against.this section, whether of the same or of a different kind. 'W r herethe defendant is a'body corporate r the 'penalty shall be-.a fine not .exceeding two hundred; pounds in : the case of a first offence, and a fine not exceeding' one thousand pounds for a second or' any subsequent offence.". : Sub-section 3 is'merely a machinery amendment of a section, in.an old Act.
