WEDDINGS.
HICKMAN—PASHBY. A wedding of great interest to Waimate residents was celebrated ; §t .Shir-; 1 ley Methodist Church recently, when Gertrude Ella, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Pashby, Shirley, was married to Carylon Middleton, young-l est son of Mr and Mrs R. A. Rickman, ' Timaru. The Rev. 0. S. Pearn performed the ceremony, and Miss Jean I Johnson (cousin of the ,brijde)< xwas_,qr?;| ganist. The church was beautifully ds-' corated with arum lilies with touches - of pink. The bride, who was escorted by her ! father, who later gave her away, wore : a-charming, long sleeved French model gown of ivory georgette, heavily bead-, ed with clusters of pearls, with scalloped hem drooping at both sides. Her, veil was worn over her face, and the train was lined with ivory georgette I with touches of orange blossom." ; She:| carried a bouquet of white roses and pale pink flowers arid maidenhair fern. The bride was . attended by two bridesmaids Miss Doreen Parnham (cousin of the bride) and Miss,:.; Mamie Pashby (the t bride's sister). They wore piale pink and blue frocks. The sleeveless bodices were of' taffeta with three deep frills of georgette, forming the skirt, with uneven hem. They wore .bands of silver-tissue t with hand-made flowers of pink blue, to tonp, and [ carried early Victorian posies. Mr Arthtir of, "Down--lands," Waimate, acted as beet man, and Mr Allan Pashby as groomsman. After the ceremony, a reception was held at Shirley Methodist Sunday School. The bride's mother wore black satin, relieved with beige lace and black satin hat, with touches of gold. Mrs Riclnnan, the : bridegroom's mother, wore a black crepe de chine dress and coat with-Oriental trimming, and black and white hat with black osprey. Mrs Lake Sinclair (sister of the bride) wore a cinnamon chenille jumper suit; arid large picture hat. The bride's travelling dress was navy • crepe de chine trimmed with beige lace. She wore a gold hat' touched with blue and carried a handsome black satin coat. . Mr and Mrs C. M. Rickman's future home will be "The Valley," Waimate.
TJMAKI7 NEWS. SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mrs R. Turnbull, who has been the guest of Mrs D. 0. Turnbull (Evans street), has returned to Wellington. Mr and Mrs J. Meehan 1 (Sefton street) left yesterday, for Christchurch. Mrs W. Clarkson (Christchurch) is the guest of Mrs R. T. Turnbull (Beverley road). Mr and Mrs Karlev, who have been the guests of Mrs W. H. Monaghan (Theodocia street), returned to Hawera yesterday. Miss Cartwright (Orbell street) is staying with Mrs Gillies (Mayfield). Mrs Shennan, who has oeen the guest of Mrs Gladstone Robinson (Oakwood), returned to Dunedin yesterday. Mrs B. Howell (Cave) has returned from Christchurch. Mrs W. Doig (Papakaio) is staying at the Hydro Grand Hotel. Mr and Mrs Aitken (Victoria) arrived at the Hydro Grand Hotel yesterday.
