INQUEST.

An inquest into the death of Pearce Watson, farmer, Lagmhor road, who collapsed at his home on Tuesday, was held before the District Coroner (Mr R. Clark) at the Courthouse yesterday morning. Dr. H. Hunter said that he had held ft post-mortem examination and found that the cause of death was heart failure. I The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony. Car Overturns. A five-seater car driven by D. W. Schaffer, of Windsor, overturned in some loose shingle on the Main South road near Hinds yesterday afternoon, wrecking the hood and windscreen and damaging the bonnet and running boards. Both the driver and a companion were injured, and received attention in Ashburton.

Technical School Sports. The Technical Kohool girls' sports, which have been held up owing to wet weather, were concluded yesterday, when a number of events were run oft. METHVEN. Mrs H. G. Gr«anfield (Fendalton) is the guest of Mrs W. Morgan. At a meeting of the Boy Scouts on Monday, the Scoutmaster (Rev. F. A. Tooley), who has since left for Woolston, was presented with a long service medal and bar, and Mr and Mrs Tooley were the recipients of a set of crystal vases from the committee. On behalf of the Scout Troop, Scout Renai presented Mr Tooley with a fountain pen.
