ANNUAL SOCIALS
On Thursdav evening of last week the annaal social which » held for. the purpose of entertaining the "under age" boys of the Linwood Football Club and their parents was held in the dob rooms, 15 Bedford row. Mr P. D. Kesteven, the president, wag in the chair. At thiß fnnction, which was very largely attended by both parents and boy* the following medals were presented:—Under 17 Tears A team: Best back, P. Allsopp; best I forward, G. Herman. Under 17 years, B team* Best back, G. Brown; best forward, D A Hooper. Under IS J years' team: Best back D. Webb; best forward, J. Jones. Schoolboys, under Bst 71b: Best back, J. Black; best forward, H. Yates. Schoolboys, under 7st: Best back, E. Collins; best forward, T. Joughin. In addition to the above, special medals were also presented to the following: A. P. Boyd, a member of the under 15J years' team (given by Mr "W. Cowles, coach of this team); D. Harvey, captain of the under Bst 71b schoolboys' team (given by Mrs W. Price). The following also gave medals: Mr A. Barrett, Mr H. Harley, Mr L. Goldsmith, and Mr W. Dinto. On behalf of the Canterbury Rugby Union, Mr A. McPhail presented the Under 17 Grade Shield and Schoolboys' Cup to the captains of the respective teams. These two teams pat up excellent performance* for- fh» put
season, the former losing only one match and the latter being undefeated. On Saturday evening the club's annual smoke concert was held in the club rooms and was also very largely attended. Mr F. D. Kesteven occupied the chair. Medals were presented to W. Laffey, best player in the junior team for the past season (given by Mr A. Musson); to F. Agasßte, the most improved forward in the under 19 years' team (presented by Mr W. Shaw). •
