CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE.

Markets continue firm and there 13 good demand for most classes of stocks. Quotations for Government issues show little variation. In the banking section, Commercial Bank of Australia shares remained steady with turnover at 30s 9d, and more were available at thut figure, buyers at 30s Bd. Bank of Australasia shares were fractionally firmer with buyers at £l4 19s, sellers at £ls 2s. Commercial Bank of Sydney buyers moved up to £26 19s, sellers now asking £27 ss. Other stocks held at late rates. Amongst the miscellaneous stocks, a parcel of Goldsbrough, Afort shares changed hands at 51s Sd, sellers staying in at that figure, buyers at 51s. Howard Smith shares appeared weaker with buyers at 26s 6d, sellers at 27s Cd. Two parcels of N.Z. He/rigerating Company partly-paid shares changed hands at 9s 6d, the market closing 9s 6d sellers, 9s 4d buyers. Kaiapoi Woollen ordinary fully-paid shares had improved demand at 13s 2d, sellers at • ISs lOd; 3s 9d was given for two lots of the partly-paid shares, and there were further sellers at 3s 9d, buyers at 3s 7d Wards Brewery shares were firmer on buyers' offers 41b Bd, sellers at 42s 2d. Beath and Co. buyers advanced their bids to 34s 6d, sellers at 365. Colonial Sugar shares hardened to £59 17s 6d buyers, £6O 10s sellers. Twenty shillings was given for Hayward's _ Pictures shares, closing quotations 3d on either side Henry Jones Co-op. shares were firmer with buyers at 38s 6d, no sellers. Mahakipawa Goldfields shares sold at 3s 2d. the market closing 3s Id sel'ers, 2s lOd buyers. New Zealand Drug Company shares moved up to 71s buyers, 73s sellers. Other stocks showed little movement.
