MOTOR-CARS COLLIDE.
ACCIDENT IN VICTORIA STREET.
The occupants of ■ two motor-cars -which came into collision in .Victoria street last night; had ' very lucky escapes, oiio of the cars, an Essex, being turned over on to its side by the force .. of . the impact.
Mr C. M. Turrell, the Wellington manager of the New Zealand Shipping Co., who arrived in Christchurch during the week-end, was proceeding north in a five-seater car at about 6.55 p.m., when he came into collision with an Essex car, driven by Mr C. Coombs, who was going-south along Oxford terrace. Mr Turrell's car struck the other broadside-on, just behind the middle, turning it over on its side. Mr H. O'Connor was ai passenger in the overturned car, and both he and the dri ver had to scramble out from the top. Fragments of the shattered glass, petrol, and water from a broken radiator were strewn all over the road. Mr Turrell said that he was travelling at about 20 miles per hour down Victoria street, and at Oxford terrace, the other car shot suddenly across in front of him. Both the motor-cars were considerably damaged. .Little or no injury was sustained by the. occupants of the motor-cars.
