Eulalie, who was recently sent to the Koatanui stud, Wanganui, is to be mated with Limond, a mating that •hould bear an interesting result. Eulogy, dam of Eulalie, produced Commendation to Limond and Homage, sister to Eulalie, through Episode, the best of this season's two-year-olds. Eulalie herself was. a brilliant two-year-old, and as a three-year-old won tho Stewards' Handicap, but since November last she has not done well on the race track. She wiH have in her favour, as a stud proposition, the fact that her racing career has been restricted, and that she- retires to the stnd as a thoroughly sound four-year-old.

Rnasay is booked to leave for Sydney by the Marama on Friday next in charge of Luke Wilson, and will be accompanied bv Gesto, a rising three-vear-old gelding by Psychology from Valley Rose, llaasay, who will contest the A.J.C. Derby, is evidently highly thought of by_ his owner, as in reply to a recent enquiry, the price of the L"rd Quex youngster was fixed at 5000 giiineas.

Rascal suffered a bruised heel over the week-end, and will require a short respite from active work; This will mean his absence from the Christehurch Hunt Club Meeting on Saturday next.

There are usually a good many rising two-year-olds in work at Ellerslie at this 'period of the season, but this year -the number is below the average (states an exchange). This does 'not' augur .> well for the prospects of Auckland Enables in the juvenile events next season, and, as has been the case in recent years, there may be few good youngsters among the batch, although it'is, too efu'ly yet to form a definite idea of the ability of those that are working. WELLINGTON NOTES. [THE PEEBS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, July 30. ' The sale was completed to-day of the rising three-year-old browu gelding, Roi de Val (Lackham —Miss de Val), from Mr Ebb Simpson to Mr V. Riddiford, and tie haa gone into S. J. Reid's Trentham stable. Hoi de Val, who is a half-brother to Degage, started six times during the closing season, his only placed performance being second to Royal Duke in the Juvenile Handi- ■ cap at the Marlborough Meeting held !at Tronthum in April last. Bo has ! been in steady work for some time m view of engagements at Riccarton next month and is well forward. One of his races was to have been in the Maiden Stakes at the Christchurch Hunt Club Meeting on Saturday, but now that he has changed hands he is unlikely to go down for that fixture, as none of the Riddiford _ horses was entered, consequently Roi de Val's next start will probably be in_ the Cashmere Plate at the Grand National Meeting. Vigilance, who showed good form hi the season just closing and has had a spell from racing since the autumn, is to make her. reappearance with the colours up at the Christchurch tlunt Meeting next Saturday. Vigilance has done well during the winter and should not be long before she earns some more stake money. On her showing next Saturday depends the fulfilment of bcr engagements at the Grand National Meeting. Miss G. Maher's team for the Christchurch Itunt Club and C.J.C. Grand National Meeting, consisting of Red Fuchsia, Peneus, Kalos, Grand National, Locarno, and Indian Chief, arrived from Hastings this afternoon, and were shipped south by the TYaliinc.
