THE DEGENERACY OF WOMEN.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—l am under the impression that 1 die# not do justice to my case in your issuo of May 12th regarding Miss Maude Royden's teaching. She seems to me to fully approve of the higher education for woman. Let us see what it has done for society. She cautions us against breaking the laws of God; of course that includes birth control. To prove that the higher education of the masses has caused that evil, we have only to look at America, where the higher education-of the masses began. We find divorce and birth control rampant. She has the greatest and most diverse educated criminals, and wo are aiming in the same direction. Divorces are increasing with us, and this boasted mass education has destroyed real home life, producing no help in the homes, and causing birth control. It was not known before mass education' commenced, and what* can it possibly lead to but the extinction ot tho white race ? .Woman in Tier proper sphere is a glorious animal, but when she steps out of it she brings evil, and in the past woman had no troublt with childbirth, but they were not sufficiently educated to play fast and loose with their constitutions. Another point she made, viz., that every one ought 'to have a "real home" anil "agreeable work," that would be lovely but what about those who won't work, and, supposing they were given a- real home, how long would they keep it? The Government of to-day is too fond of exploiting the capable to feed and j clothe- the incapable/ The great ] trouble with women to-day. is they -\v4ll -Sot "follow the t&Sching' 'of the Bible, i.e., to submit to their Lord) and Master. It will come in time that history will repeat itself. —Yours, etc., E.S.
