LIFE-SAVING.

The North Beach Surf and Life-Saving Club held an examination of some of its members for the Koyal Life-Saving Society's surf medallion award during the week-end. To pass this test the candidates have to prove their ability to take up any position in a life-saving team with reel and line in the surf. As there was a heavy sea running the test was a very thorough one, each candidate having to go out as lineman, beltman, and support in turn. Prior to entering the watfr the drill was gone through on the beach !-ix times,-each man taking a different place each time. The display drew s large crowd of interested spectators. Those who parsed the test were: W. Wilson, Geof. Dew, Boss i'loyd, and P. J. L. Scott.
