Sea Scout Dance. One of the most successful gatherings held under the auspices of the Lyttelton Sea Scouts was the dance organised to raise funds to send the local Sea Scouts to the annual gathering of Sea Scouts at Wellington at Easter. The dance took place in the Excelsior Hall on Saturday night, and there was a very large attendance. Music was provided by Miss D. Jones's orchestra, and extras were played by members of the orchestra of the s.s. Mataroa. The financial results of the dance are stated to have greatly exceeded even the expectations of the Dance Committee. Licensing Committee. The quarterly meeting of the Lyttelton Licensing Committee was held yesterday. Present: Messrs H. A. Young S.M. (chairman), F. Knights, W. T. Lester, D. Mcßae, O. Bradley, and F. G. Norton. The chairman stated that the police report for the quarter showed that the conduct of hotels in the district had been satisfactory. The only business before the meeting that day was the inspection of the British Hotel to consider the requirements of the Health Department that the convenience should be shifted. After the inspection the meeting was adjourned to Akaroa at a date to be fixed later in the month. Personal. The Rev. B. Dudley, of the Lyttelton Methodist Church, has been [appointed by the Methodist House Board to the position of honorary lecturer on New Testament subjects to the deaconess students.
