INCREASED FREIGHT RATE ON MAIZE.
fPHZSS ASSOCIATIO* MLEOBAM.) GISBORNE, February 29. A shock has been caused Gisborne produce firms by an unexpected increase of fourteen pence per sack on maize shipped between Gisborne and Auckland, the former price of tenpence having been advanced to two shillings per sack. The increase is the cause of great dissatisfaction, as local merchants had taken orders for February. March, and April forward delivery at tenpence freight rate.
