FIFTY YEARS' SERVICE.

DEAN FITCHETT'S MINISTRY.

[THE PRESS Special Service.]

DUN'EDIN, February 4. Dean Fitchett, of All Saints' Church, delivered his first sermon there as vicar of the parish on the first Sunday in February of 1879, so that this Sunday's service was the Dean's entry upon the fiftieth year of his incumbency. Although the reverend gentleman has resigned from the charge, he is holding on until the arrival of the new incumbent, who is not expected to reach the Dominion until aboutAugust. No other clergyman in Dunedm now has had such a term of active duty as nearly a half century. The Deans appointment dates from the same year as that in which the Rev. Rutherford "V\addell took charge at St. Andrews, and he retired a while ago.
