A TIMELY RESCUE.
LIFE SAVED AT BRIGHTON. In the last stages of exhaustion, and with a severe attack of cramp, a man named Unwin was rescued from the surf at New Brighton yesterday afternoon. It appears that Unwin was out of his depth when he had a seizure of cramp. His pli.ght was noticed by the patrolman, and the life-saving team made a smart turn-out. First to the man, however,, was Arthur Stokes, a wellknown swimmer, who was really responsible for saving Unwin's life. Stokes supported him until the beltman arrived, and the unconscious man was carried into the pavilion. After an hour's resuscitation efforts, Unwin became conscious, and was later taken to his home.
