"CRADLE SNATCHERS."
A DIVERTING RECREATION
AT EVERYBODY'S, MONDAY.
"Cradle Snatchers," as a stage play, had the appreciative ones of this City in wild hilarity a few weeks ago; it was a splendid opening for tho uplifted and noble souls of the world to raise pious hands at our unashamed candour and freedom of speech: at ™n,r, St ' ", Was ™»»e»"ly clever, q'ui" truthful, and genuinely wittv, if n little *ncly;drnwn on occasion. if ow "Cradle fanatchers" conies to tho screen, infinitely more amusing with snappier tempo and bet- . act,n £\ To even the uninitiated it is m,T.» at , the . tom P° "nd tho acting might Si™? l' 1 ? be ,m P roved UP"" in this later version, but some may disbelieve its brighter comedy propensities. But oven so, the film is clever. The philandering husbands philander a bit moro and better than their stare confreres; their wives get into their stride with keener vim; Iko the Israelite, Oscar the Swede, and Jose Vallejo, the Palpitating bpamard, are all painted with a bolder brush • if the uphftors don't like the prospect of Bitting out a screening of three middle-aged women teaching their wandering spouses n lesson in Swedish drill or the growing of bpamsh onions, they know what to do. Xhere are one or two sparkling scenes inserted into the picture that tho play left outvery funny scenes, a bit more American, n little more Broadway, than tho predecessor, the three wives are unalikc. Susan Martin who early learnt that tho only way to be happy with a husband is to be happy without him most of the time, gets vastly bucked and foolishly gigglesome at the prospect of her Spaniard (from Brooklyn), and ventures on the side of the ultra, but merely ventures; Kitty Lndd, the prime mover in the game, is bold and adventurous, with an exploring mind; Ethel is tho eldest, diffident, highly virtuous, enormously frightened of the Swede, whom she draws in the lottery. These three "women are played by Ijouiso Fazenda, Ethel Wales, and Dorothy Phillips. The honours go to the firstnamed, ( who, as the volatile Susan, carries the house along a path of uproar and hilarity with her. The duck-shooting and mendacious husbands are in the hands of J. Farrell McDonald, William Davidson, and Prnnklyn Pangborn. McDonald being far and away tho best. "Cradlo Snatchers" is quite the brightest comedy offered at Everybody's for a long time, and it will be some time before a dramatist gets a similar set of ideas. The second picture on the bill' will bo Johnny Hines in "Stepping Along," a typical effort from this popular comedian, and one in which he has the support of Mary Brian as leading ladv. The Select Orchestra under Mr Albert Bidgood, will play a special musical programme during the season. «ox plans are at, The Bristol Piano Company, where seats may be reserved.
