RECORD PRICE FOR LIMOND COLT. WRIGHT, STEPHENSON'S CATALOGUE. (SPECIAL TO TBI PBISS.) WELLINGTON, January 'Ji. The second annual sale of thoroughbred year.'ings conducted by Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with Messrs H. Chiiholm and Co., of Sydney, at the Trentham racecourse today was well attended, but with few exceptions bidding was not very spirited. Most of the owners represented, however, met the market, with a result that a large numbor of the youngsters changed hands. lu all, 102 yearlings wero catalogued, but withdrawals brought this number down to 81, us compared with 50 offered nt the first sale last year. Mr Ken Austin, of Sydney, again wielded the hammor. A feature of the sale was the price obtained tor a chestnut colt by Limond from .the Absurd mare Homage. Bidding opened at 500 guineas, and quickly roso to 2300 guineas, at which figure ho became the property of Air G. D. Greenwood, of Christchurch. This sale constitutes a New Zealand record for « yearling, the previous best being 2250 guineas secured for a brother to Thespian by Absurd from Leta, who was sold at Wanganui on behalf of the same breeder three years ago. Other good prices wore secured for a brown colt by Limond from Makepeace, dam of Marsurd and Rigmarole; a colt bv Limond from Royal Exchange, dam of Royal Lineage; a Limond colt from Tnvoli; a colt by Chief Ruler from Tinkler, sister to Bezant and Kebekah; a filly by Martian from Sweet Charity, darn of Knightlike; a colt by Paladin from Per Arma, dam of Martarmn; a filly by Leighton from Cheloma, dam of Nincompoop; a colt by Tea Tray— Taiamai, dnm of Ti Tree: a filiy by Paper Money from Kilberry, sister to Countersign and Victory Bond, and half-sister to Tommy Dodd; a colt by Paper Money from Peronilla. dam of Frenzied Finance, Kilperon, and Bondicea: a colt by Absurd from Rose Queen, dnm of The Thorn, Koeeneath, and Kuanui, who fetched the second highest figure of the tale; and a filly by Limond from Farce.
