British and French representatives here are urging the Premier of Lithuania, Professor Valdemaras, in the interests of his own country, to begin negotiations for a settlement of the dispute between Poland and Lithuania.
[A virtual state of war between Poland and Lithuania, owing to tlio rival claims of tlie two States to the town of V ilna, has existed sinoe 1921. At the recent session of the League Council the countries were induced to resume diplomatic relations, but it soon became evident from the tone of utterances . of Professor Valdeinaras, Premier of Lithuania, that a permanent solution of the dispute was almost as far off as ever.]
