SERIOUS CHARGES. Oliver Victor Tuckwell (Australia!, aged 21 years, a labourer, was charged with having indecently assaulted a fourteen-year-old girl at Christchureh on December 30th. He was remanded to appear on Saturday next. Duncan Chasland, a cook, of 132 St. Asaph street, Chriskhurch, aged 29 years, wa3 charged with an indecent offence at Qhristcluirch, and was also remanded until Saturday.

STREET BEGGING. Alfred James Luxon, 45 years, labourer, of Wharf street, Oamaru, appeared to plead guilty to each of the following charges: — (1) That he was an idle and disorderly person, begging alms jn Cashel street, Christchurch; {-) that he had broken his prohibition order, and (3) that ho had failed to comply with the terms of his release on probation. He. was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on each of the first two charges, the sentences to he cumulative, and convicted and discharged on the third count. Senior-Sergeant. J. Fitzpatrick stated that Luxon was before the Court at Ttmaru on December 30th on a charge of being an incorrigible rogue, and was admitted to two years' probation. The following day he arrived in Chriskhurch and was seen accosting people in the streot for money.
