ATTEMPTED BURGLARY.
j AUDACIOUS MARAUDERS. Early on Saturday morning two men made an audacious attempt to enter the-house of Mrs D. Cossgrove, 17 Severn street, St. Albans, but the inmates were awakened and switched on the lights, after which tho men ran away. But within an hour they returned and attempted to enter the motor shed, according to a statement made by Mrs- Cossgrove's daughter. Miss Cossgrove said she was awakened by footsteps outside her window about 1 o'clock in the morning, and after a while' aroused the others in the house. She and her brother noticed two men outside the fence, but later they moved away, ; About an hour later the men returned and made an attempt to enter the motor shed, but soon left.
