PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASS.
* CONFERENCE AT ASHBURTON. "The Master's Plan" was the subject taken by the Rev. J. W. McKenzie at the session of tho Presbyterian Bible Class Conference at Ashburton on Saturday evening. The Sacrament of tho Lord's. Supper was dispensed in St. Andrew's Church at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The Kev. A. G. Irvine conducted tho service and preached an inspiring sermon on ilie consecration of life to the service of Christ.
At 11 a.m. the Eev. Aloe McNeur conducted a conference service in the Sunday School hall. His subject was "Forgetting the Past, and Striving After Somothing Higher and Botter." In tho evening the Eev. Tulloch Yuillo spoke on "Tho Master's Challenge." The Rev. A. 0. Whitelaw spoke on "Howto Conduct a Bible Study" yesterday morning. The speaker showed that the Bible might be studied as literature of incomparable beauty, and as a collection of books requiring careful and intensive study. It might also bo studied dovotionally aB n food for the soul and as tho revelation of God to man. At the Sunday school teachers' sectional meeting, yesterday, Mr J. Eoid continued on tho subject of the influence of child study on our lives.
Tho fourth young women's sectional meeting -was held yesterday morning, when Miss Gladys Perkins spoko on the relation of class to district and union. The Bible Class movement was essentially a fellowship, not an organisation. A swimming carnival for delegates to the conference was held yesterday afternoon in the Borough School baths. Tho weather was ideal for swimming, and there was a good attendance of spectators, consisting mostly of conference delegates. The entries were satisfactory for all the races and there were some close contests. Good work was done by the officials, who were: Starter, Mr McMoore; judges. Messrs E. Buchanan, "W. J. Moore, and S. Christie; announcer, Mr B. M. McGregor; stewards. Messrs S. McElhinney, R. McElhinney, G. Moore, and Mrs Reid. The Rev. "W. Bower Black presented the prizes.
