AKAROA REGATTA,

SOME KEEN CONTESTS. The Akaroa regatta was held in perfect weather yesterday. At the time of starting the first race, a north-easter sprang up, which caused an alteration in the course, thfa boats finishing just past the Akaroa. boatsheds. From about 11 a.m. there was just sufficient breeze irom the north to make the sailing race interesting, tho threatened north-easter dying out —a fortunate occurrence for the rowers. There was a very large attendance of interested spectators on shore, and all the races were keenly contested Tho results are as follows:

Youths' Single Sculls —Akaroa (D. Reid) 1, Avon (A. Frame) '2, Canterbury (V. A. Smith) 3. Lyttelton won tbjs event, but was disqualified for finishing outside the flag. Also started: Union CO. Anderson), Smnner-Kedcliffs (G. Wing).

Junior Four Oar—Avon (\V. Palmar, A. P. Mac Duff, G. J. K. Litten, and K. Lyons) 1, Canterbury (H. L. Stephenson, E. G. Moon, E. F.'L. Hill, and W. J. Brown) 2. Won by two feet. Senior Double Sculls—Avon (C. G. Stiles, H. G. Stiles) 1, Canterbury (F. H. Brown, F. G. Obom) 2, Union, W. Whittiugton, F. V. Home) 3. Won by a length; half a length between second and third. Union was disqualified for fouling, and Canterbury was placed second. Youths' Four Oar—Lyttelton (F. May, R. Sneddon, W. Davis, S. Sinclair) 1, Avon (L. Webb, G. Rusworth, A. Woodham, J. Brixton) 2, Akaroa (D. Read, W. Baillie, E. Parris, W. Reid) 3. Won by threequarters of a length; two lengths between second and third. Also started: Union (W. H. Kennedy, R. Layton, 0. Anderson, C. L. Bowden), Sumner-Redcliffs (G. Cotton, L. S. Woods, 0. Johnstone, R. H. Neville). Maiden Double Soulls—Canterbury (F. C. Godfrey, H. R. Coster) 1, Union (E. Weir, G-. Greenway) 2, Avon (B. Heatley, G. Litter.) 3. Also started: Akaroa (F. Phillips, R. Keegan), Lyttelton (J. Scott, G. Burnip). Won by half a length; a length between second and third.

Junior Double Sculls —Union (H. L. Bush, W. Greenway) 1, Akaroa (N. Hammond, E. May) 2,' Avon (W. Palmer, H. Brixton) 3. Also started: Canterbury (D. S. Boyd, D. S. Gunn). Won by a length; four lengths between second and third. Youths' Double Sculls—Lyttelton (R. Sinclair, E. Sinclair) 1, Avon (A. Frame, A. Woodham 2), Akaroa (D. Reid, W. Reid) 3. Also started: Union (0. Anderson, R. Layton). Won by three lengths; six lengths between second and third.

Won by two lengths; two lengths between second and third. Union was one foot away. Maiden Pair Johnstone, R. H. Neville) 1, Lyttelton (J. Scott, P. Serra) 2, Avon (R. Ba-tchelor, S. Barber) 3. Also started: Canterbury (M< L. Styche, E. L. Young), Akaroa (F. Phillips, D. Keegan), Union (E. Weir, G. Green, way). Won by five lengthß. Canterbury crossed the line second, but finished outside tho flag. Handicap Sailing Race—Miro (A. F. Cowan), 2min, 1; Waimana (T. H&riknoss), scr, 2; Kia Ora (E. J. Kingston), 2min, 3. Also started: Mameena (A. Noona-n). Mameena got a bad start, and retired early in the race. Waimana led all the way, and crossed the lino 15 seconds ahead of Miro, and thus won by If minutes.

D.C.L. CUP. Points for the D.C.L. Cup were as follows :
