ENGINE HITS VAN.
TRAFFIC HELD UP. (esess association telegram.) AUCKLAND, January 2. A railway collision occurred at Remuera to-day, when an unattached engine following a mixed goods train collided with the van of the train. The impact damaged the van, but the guard, who was in the compartment, escaped with slight injuries. The contents of the van were thrown out and splintered woodwork was thrown in all directions. Several trucks which were empty were derailed, the line being blocked for three hours. (
