SUMMER SCHOOL. Augmented numbers ore emitnbutmg to a rueceshfui summer school at Methvofi. On Wednesday morning Dr. A. G. U. I'iaher, i'rol'esaor of Economies. Otago University, and I'rolessor Slieltey were the lecturers, and a ttudy circle in experimental psychology under Dr. Beeby was also started. In the afternoon there na- :ti. enjoyable ,i;n h>' motor-bus to Rakaia Gorge, and ,n the evening Professor Shelley read a play, the evening concluding with the usual concert. Dr. Fisher spoke on the '•Lcouonuc I'roblems arising out of the Contact of Kac-os." making special icterence to conditions in Kenya on the one hand and in West Africa on the oilier, particularly with reference to land. Professor Shellev showed why it was tint the land had alwny., been considered so important a factor m social life.
