HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TBLEGBAM.) WELLINGTON, November 11.

In the House of Eepresentativeß today, the Prime Minister, in reply to a question by Mr Wilford, said he would endeavour to allot next Monday evening for the passing of uncontested local Bills - The Minister for Education (Mr Wright) moved the second reading pro forma of the Education Bill. _ This was carried on the voices and the Bill was referred to the Education Committee. The Valuation of Land Amendment Bill was reported without amendment. The Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill and the Valuation of Land Amendment Bill were read a third time and passed. By Governor-General's Message a number of amendments to the Eural Intermediate Credit BUI were introduced. The Prime Minister explained that with two exceptions they were all machinery amendments. The two exceptions dealt with the treatment of securities, and had been asked for by the Public Trustee ani the Treasury. Mr Savage and Mr Fraser protested against the bringing down of such amendments and proceeding with them before members had time to consider them. They urged postponement, and this course was agreed to by the Prime Minister. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

(PBISS AS3OCUTIO* TILXQBAM.) WELLINGTON, November 11. In the Legislative Council to-day, on the motion of the; Hon. Mi Hanan, a return was ordered showing the awards made as affecting the farming industry, in which preference, or qualified preference, to unionists is giveu, and stating in either case the limitation placed on the granting of preference. The Main Highways Amendment Bill was received from tho House and read a first time. The Property Law Amendment Bill and the Mortgagees Indemnity (workers' charges) Bill were reported! from the Statutes Revision Committee with minor and technical amendments, and were subsequently put through their final stages and passed, the amendments being approved. The Post and Telegraph Amendment Bill was further considered in Committee, technical amendments being effected on the motion of Sir> Francis Bell. The Bill was passed as amended. The Council rose at 4.18 p.m.
